Who is ‘GroenHoender’?

My name is Thys, using the handle “groenhoender” (Afrikaans, a South Africa language, for “green chicken”) when I am using the internet. If I sign up somewhere on the internet and my nickname has been taken (very rare!), I then use the English equivalent “greenchicken” . For instance, my Flickr account was created with my Afrikaans alias.

The history of where I got the nick-name “groenhoender / greenchicken” was during my early Java developer years at a small company, with funny co-developers / colleagues, an incident involving a very tight t-shirt from a very attractive (but mischievous) girl-friend and subsequently some tongue-in-cheek ribaldry from said (and jealous) colleagues  :-)

I am a amateur photographer and will be posting selected images from my Flickr photo-stream here. You can see the rest of my photos here. Besides photography I enjoy gaming on my Playstation 3, or reading books and watching movies but lately don’t have as much time to do these as I would like. When I can motivate myself to overcome my laziness I enjoy outdoor mountain-bike bicycling or walking around outdoors, with my camera.
